Partners
DocumentMS partner programme
We work with three kinds of partner: consultancies that refer clients, resellers that own the commercial relationship, and implementation partners that run taxonomy design and migration. This page sets out what each tier commits to and what it receives in return.
Three ways to work with us
Most document management projects fail on decisions rather than on software: what the taxonomy should be, which metadata fields become mandatory, where approval thresholds sit, and what event starts each retention clock. Those are consulting problems, and they are the reason partnerships matter in this category more than in most.
We work with three kinds of partner, and the distinction is about who owns the customer relationship rather than about discount level.
Partnership types
Referral partner
You introduce a client with a document control problem; we sell, implement and support. Suits consultancies and auditors who encounter the problem but do not want to own delivery. The fee is 15% of first-year subscription value, paid within 30 days of the client’s first invoice settling, with no claw-back after that point.
Reseller partner
You own the commercial relationship, licensing and first-line support. Suits IT resellers and managed service providers with an existing client base. Margin is 25%, rising to 30% above a modest annual volume, and the obligation in return is first-line support and at least two accredited staff.
Implementation partner
We hold the commercial relationship; you deliver taxonomy design, migration and configuration. Suits information governance and records management consultancies. Requires two accredited consultants, and we refer implementation work to partners by domain expertise and availability rather than routing it all to the largest one.
What partners get
- A partner tenant for demonstration and training, not time-limited
- Technical enablement covering configuration, migration tooling and the API
- Pre-sales support on security questionnaires and RFP responses
- Named technical contact for escalations
- Deal registration protecting the opportunity and the full margin for 90 days, renewable once while the deal is demonstrably progressing
- Co-marketing support — joint content, event contribution and a listing in the partner directory once your first implementation is live
FAQ
Partnership questions
Do you sell direct in partner territories?
Yes, we sell direct, and we are not going to pretend otherwise — but a registered deal is yours. Registration protects the opportunity and your full margin for 90 days, renewable while the deal is moving, and if our own team is already engaged with that account when you register we will tell you within 2 business days rather than accepting the registration and competing quietly. Ambiguity on this point is why most partner programmes fail.
What certification do implementation partners need?
Two accredited consultants. Accreditation is a two-day remote course followed by a practical configuration and migration exercise, assessed by us, and it is free — we would rather carry the cost than have a partner implement badly to avoid the fee. Budget about a week per consultant end to end, and re-accreditation is a half-day refresher each year.
Can we host DocumentMS for our clients?
No — it is a managed cloud product and not available for partner hosting. On the Enterprise tier a client can use their own S3 or Azure storage backend, which addresses most data residency requirements without a hosted deployment.
What support do you give on security questionnaires?
Pre-sales support including completed responses to common frameworks, and access to the trust centre material. Where an answer is "not yet", we say so to the partner as well as to the client — a partner who discovers a gap during a client review has been badly served.
